Chocolate spreads, hazelnut pastes and tahini-based products are highly viscous and contain oil. Because their flow changes with temperature, the filling method and the product path are designed around them for jar filling.
Chocolate spread and jar filling
- Servo volumetric filling: measures the thick product by volume, repeatably.
- Level-controlled balance tank: gives the piston a steady product load.
- Jar line: filling, capping and labelling run on the same conveyor.
The filling temperature and, if required, tank heating are determined at the project stage with a product sample. The same approach applies to tahini, molasses and honey.

Hygiene
All product-contact surfaces are AISI 316L stainless steel, and the balance tank can be cleaned in place (C.I.P.). Parts that can be removed without tools shorten cleaning and product changeovers. For hygiene criteria on food lines, see our food and beverage page.
Capping and the line
For capping, gripper, three-ball, pick & place, flat clamping, rolling and press systems are available, driven by servo torque, asynchronous motor, mechanical torque or air motor. Caps are fed to the station by an elevator, vibratory bowl or rotary table. On a fully automatic line, the bottle feeding table, air bottle cleaning, filling, capping, labelling, check weigher, metal detector and inkjet date coding run in sync on the same conveyor.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can chocolate spread be filled into jars?
Yes, with servo volumetric filling; capping and labelling are added to the same line.
Can it also be used for tahini and hazelnut paste?
Products of similar viscosity, such as tahini, hazelnut paste and molasses, can be handled with format parts.
Does product temperature affect filling?
Yes; with thick products the filling temperature governs flow, and it is determined with a product sample at the project stage.
